LEADER projects are innovative, diverse and wide ranging and bring tangible benefits to rural communities and businesses. However they must fit into one of the six national LEADER priorities and demonstrate how they contribute to the local economy before they can be approved.
“We recognise that as the level of funding available … is not large , better value for money and impact may be achieved in improving and promoting what the area has to offer, rather than endeavouring to invest in workspace and expensive interventions, unless they are likely to create significant economic impact and innovations which can be replicated.” Local Development Strategy 2014
